Privacy Policy — Simply ScreenRecorder
Simply ScreenRecorder is a Chrome extension that records your screen, browser tabs, windows, a selected area, and/or your webcam. All recordings, edits, and settings are processed and stored locally on your own computer. We do not operate any servers, and we do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. There are no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party advertising.
What the extension accesses, and why
- Screen / tab / window capture — only after you click “Start Recording” and choose what to share. The captured video is recorded directly on your device.
- Camera & microphone — only when you turn on the webcam and/or microphone for a recording. These streams are used solely to produce your recording and are never uploaded.
- Downloads — used to save your finished recording file to your computer.
- Local storage (chrome.storage and IndexedDB) — used to remember your settings and to keep your recording history on your device.
Where your data lives
- Finished recordings are saved to your Downloads folder and/or kept in the extension’s local IndexedDB history, both on your device.
- Your preferences are stored in chrome.storage on your device.
- Nothing is sent to us or to any third party. The extension makes no network requests to external services for your content.
On-device processing only
Webcam effects (background blur/replace, face masks, face-privacy blur) run entirely on your device using machine-learning models that are bundled inside the extension. They do not require an internet connection and your camera frames never leave your computer.
No remote code
All code and assets the extension runs are packaged within the extension. It does not download or execute any remote or third-party code.
Data sharing & sale
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not transfer it to third parties.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13.

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be revised.
